SO, BY KEEPING HER HEART PROTECTEDSHE'D NEVER FEEL REJECTEDLittle Miss Apprehensive------------------ Night time.
The academy garden was sparkling in the moonlight, the night-blooming flowers glowing faintly. Kat strolled through the plants, strangely at home in a foreign country. Maybe it was because at the manor in Britain, she’d had her own garden. Or because at her home in Russia, her mother’s garden outdid the others’. Kat didn’t know. And quite honestly, she didn’t care. Sighing, she removed her fedora, and let down her hair. It fell in waves to her waist, she hadn’t cut it since leaving Russia, which was over five years ago. The raven-black tresses shone in the dim light, and as Kat put her hat on again, this time with her hair down, she smiled.
Snap!
Kat’s turquoise eyes widened at the sound. Alarmed, she prepared to call upon her dream-walking ability. Kat could manipulate a person’s dreams, whether they were awake or asleep, it did not matter. A dream was a dream. Ducking behind a rosebush, she waited for whoever made the sound to emerge. As she waited, Kat began to daydream, and projected it into the air. Little creatures appeared out of the moonlight, faeries. Their laughter was like tinkling bells, bubbling as they flitted through the air.

::::::::::::::::: “I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?” ::::::::::::::::: Nightmares. They came to Robin often, after her adventure with Antonie. She couldn't shake them-- the feeling of running, blackness all around, the roll of thunder, and the lack of rain. Worst of all was the sword that would slash through the night, illuminated by glowing blue eyes. Her mother's eyes. Robin shivered, imagining almost for a moment that she was back in that dreaded cave-- in that black wet-suit, with nothing but a horrific battle waiting for her at the end of the tunnel. With nothing but a puppet-master to play with their minds, their thoughts-- and three doors to strike fear into her thoughts. Rubbing her arms, Robin slipped back into her over-sized sweatshirt and continued down the garden path, for herself the world nothing but a stream of endless colors, black, emotions, and neon lines. Without her powers, Robin was blind-- and she wouldn't soon forget it-- feeling like she was as her bare feet padded on the cobble-stone. Long story short, Robin woke up from another nightmare again tonight-- and didn't feel like going back to sleep to be greeted by the cold stone floors of the beach caves again-- and left the dorm, careful not to wake River and her dog up. At first, she had headed to the roof, like she always did-- but something made her stop. What was it? Fate, instinct? Robin didn't know, and she honestly didn't care as she quite suddenly changed directions to the garden. Back to the present, the sophomore stopped, quite suddenly, in a clearing of roses. Vibrant red streams of light refracted into Robin's eye sight, but what was more important to the girl right now was the faint blue figure crouched behind a bush of red-roses. For a moment, Robin considered making a tacky and/or cocky comment about no one being able to hide from an empath, especially this one, but it wasn't her way-- and Robin pretended not to notice, taking a sudden fascination in a white-rose bush on the other side of the clearing.

SO, BY KEEPING HER HEART PROTECTEDSHE'D NEVER FEEL REJECTEDLittle Miss Apprehensive------------------ Her eyes began to glow
s Kat put more power into the daydream, making the faeries shine brighter, and seem more realistic than before. Exhaustion rushed through her; projecting her own daydreams was always the hardest. The person was a girl, one she hadn’t seen before. She was probably younger too, by the looks of it, she’d also recently had a nightmare. Not only did she look shaken, Kat could tell from the imprint it left on her mind. Realizing the girl had seen her, she stepped out of the shadows.
”Who are you? What are you doing here?”
Kat snapped in Russian, her native tongue. Her turquoise eyes still glowing, she dispersed the daydream, and in its place came a waking nightmare. Creatures of myths and legends alike prowled out of the shadows, Nidhogg, Hell Hounds, dragons, manticores, basilisks, you name it, imagine or think of it, it was there. Of course, this was Kat’s waking nightmare, none of it was real. Though, not many can tell the difference between real and not real. A basilisk slithered up to the girl, and hissed. Kat didn’t care if she terrified the girl, as she was not in an empathetic mood./color]

::::::::::::::::: “Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.” ::::::::::::::::: Oh, great. Pretending the figure wasn't there didn't work. A voice, foreign in tone-- came sharp out of the darkness and Robin kept her head down, determined to move forward. She definitely did not expect to see a dragon stand in her path. Arching an eyebrow, Robin stared at this new beast with wide eyes. Hey, she had loved dragons as a kid-- and dreamed of a power that would let her have one. But this one was a little too intimidating look for her taste, and looked ready to rip her throat out. Backing up very slowly, heart-pounding-- Robin looked for another escape route, only to find them blocked by another oh-so-nightmarish creature. "Great," Robin breathed, trying not to look a scared as she was. Swallowing, she turned to the girl standing there with glowing eyes that illuminated the shadows, and asked as dryly as possible, "Am I still dreaming?" Of course not, but it was a better option than all these things being real. Robin didn't understand the text of the girl's words, but she got the general gist-- and tried to answer them. "Er, I'm just taking a walk here... at night?" Wow. Very smooth, Robin. "I couldn't sleep, and the garden is very peaceful." Robin jumped as a snake like thing slithered up to her feet and she scurried backward-- wondering what the heck she had gotten herself into this time.

SO, BY KEEPING HER HEART PROTECTEDSHE'D NEVER FEEL REJECTEDLittle Miss Apprehensive------------------ ”Am I still dreaming?”
The girl asked. Pfft. Of course not, but she may as well be, considering this was Kat’s dream. ”If you were dreaming, you’d know!” Kat warned the girl. Envisioning the creatures surrounding the girl, it became reality. She was in a quite sadistic mood – not uncommon for her, but a little unusual. If that even makes any sense. Katarina stepped through the many different beasts, towards the girl. Her step was almost predatory, like a lioness circling its prey. In fact – that’s exactly how she walked. Kat began to walk – no float – around the girl. Her dancer’s grace was enhanced in the dim light, and gave her an otherworldly effect.
Drawing on her remaining energy, she added to the waking nightmare. Nidhogg, a dragon, began to exhale fire. Not enough to cause any damage, but enough to frighten. Kat laughed quietly, enjoying playing with this girl. Like a cat playing with a mouse, batting it around with sharp claws. She continued to circle, getting a little closer. A predatory gaze studied the younger girl, from turquoise eyes, ready to move in for the metaphorical kill. [/blockquote] ------------------ I SAID OOH, SHE FELL IN LOVE

::::::::::::::::: “Many of our daydreams would darken into nightmares, were there a danger of their coming true!” ::::::::::::::::: Robin's fear spiked when the dragon breathed fire-- but that's exactly what she wanted-- the adrenaline. The taunt, the sadistic glint in the girl's eyes was all that was needed to push Robin over the edge of some calm and restraint, to defensive mode. And being an empath, at the peak of being scared only strengthened Robin's powers. Robin closed her eyes, breathing in deep. Exhale. Inhale. The girl, the girl from this nightmare began to circle her, and Robin remain perfectly still-- muscles tense, and heart quickening. Then the nightmare girl began to laugh, so very close-- and Robin snapped. The world inside Robin erupted into black-- the swirling beams of light that formed shapes blurring together, and Robin saw herself-- a small blue figure surrounded by horrifying looking beasts, all a single color of energy and flesh, white. The lines that formed Robin's shape shook with emotion and fear as the energy traveled from inside herself to reality-- to become a weapon that could burn and tear. "Stay away!" Robin shouted, hands erupting into the blue flames of her life-force. Spinning around with arms outstretched in a fighting stance, Robin continued to feed on the emotion, the life, within herself to fuel these flames of life. The girl had never used her powers to hurt another, and she wasn't even sure it could-- but Robin was willing to try. You back an animal, even a mouse, or a bird, into a corner-- and they show their teeth. Heck-- Robin hadn't ever fought anyone, other than in martial-arts practice, but even then, Robin's teacher had more focused on the meditation.

SO, BY KEEPING HER HEART PROTECTEDSHE'D NEVER FEEL REJECTEDLittle Miss Apprehensive------------------ ”And why would I do that, hmm?”
Why would I ruin my fun because a little girl like you could face being scared?” Kat taunted the girl, letting out a morbid laugh. God, this is fun, she thought. Energy filled Kat as adrenaline entered her bloodstream. Once again drawing upon the dream world, Kat formed a gleaming jeweled dagger, completely unreal, but appearing to be bona fide. Kat smiled maliciously, and moved in even closer, about an arm’s length away.
”You think those measly little flames can harm me, girl?” snarled Kat, ”I control reality here!” Kat moved in closer, so she was eye – to eye with the girl. However, Kat towered over the girl, one, because she was tall, and two, she was wearing heels. Smirking, she hissed at the girl, ”Try me girl, try and mess with me.” [/blockquote] ------------------ I SAID OOH, SHE FELL IN LOVE

::::::::::::::::: “I'll do my dreaming with my eyes wide open, and I'll do my looking back with my eyes closed!” ::::::::::::::::: Robin's eyes narrowed, staring up at the girl in front of her-- glaring. Was that a challenge? Robin swung her hands out in front of her, in a stance that screamed, 'I'm ready, bring it--' and nervously thought back to a few minutes ago-- she could've sworn on her life that there was nothing there before. These, Robin flinched as a large creature gave a mighty roar, nightmare creatures must be created by this girl."I control reality here!"That is true. Very true, Robin thought, aflame arms wavering slightly as they jerked in the black night. But do you control the reality in other places? And with that, Robin threw her flame into the ground-- creating a huge slap-back of energy that sent Robin spiraling into the air-- far over the nightmare creature's heads. Hitting the ground hard on the other side of them, Robin knee's buckled for a moment-- pain shooting up her already weak legs, before Robin knelled, one foot propped up at a 90 degree angle, and the other flat on the ground. Flashing a forced grin toward her opponent--Robin gave a cheery wave and shakily stood up, jolts of pain flashing up her legs from the leap. Clenching her teeth, Robin darted back toward the mansion, pouring on speed. Well, let's see if your creatures can run-- Miss. Nightmare.

SO, BY KEEPING HER HEART PROTECTEDSHE'D NEVER FEEL REJECTEDLittle Miss Apprehensive------------------ ”Coward!”
Kat screamed after the girl. Climbing aboard a dragon, she took off, flying after the girl. Her horde of creatures followed her, some by air, some by land. Finally, she was above the girl. Swooping down low, Kat leaped off of the dream-creature. With a dancer’s knowledge, she flipped through the air, landing with a roll. ”Did you really think you could escape me? Honestly?” Kat asked mockingly, with a grin on her face. Her fedora was tipped low on her face, adding to the sinister appearance. She approached the girl, flames popping up in her wake.
It didn’t matter to her that she might get in a lot of trouble, and Mikhail and Sonja, her parents, would be furious. They’d always had – or tried to at least – to have a tight rein on her. Well, now that she was an ocean away from them, Kat couldn’t care less. All she wanted to do was make this girl pay. For what? Kat didn’t know. Perhaps the girl had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

::::::::::::::::: “Those with the greatest awareness have the greatest nightmares.” ::::::::::::::::: Okay, okay, run-- run-- run. Robin glanced over her shoulder, shocked to see the girl still pursuing her. On a dragon-- and if Robin had any energy to spare, she would've face-palmed. Seriously? A dragon? What are the odds of Robin defeating a dragon? If River was here, she could've told the blonde, but Robin was smart enough to know the general guess. Not good enough. "Coward!"I know, Robin thought, gritting her teeth as she poured on more speed. Don't make it worse-- I'm already running. Isn't that punishment enough? True, true-- Robin had run, and it was simply killing her to do so. One thing fueled her escape, and one thing only. It looked like this girl that was chasing her used fear tactics. Robin had had enough of fear tactics. There it is! The Academy! Robin's feet pounded in a rhythmic force. Step, step, step-- faster, faster, faster!-- You can make it, wimp! Don't stop! Run!And she would've made it to, if the dragon hadn't landed. BOOM. It was a miniature earthquake that rippled through the earth, sending Robin sprawling onto the earth-- face-first. Luckily, her arm thrust out in front of her, protecting her face somewhat as she slid on the dust path, bits of gravel flying into her face and cutting her across the cheek. Jerking her head to the side, Robin was able to avoid getting her hand smashed into the brick of the academy-- but unfortunately-- it was only brick that she avoided. No doors. No windows. Robin sat up blearily, hand on the cut-- and leaned backward against the brick, trying to make a quick recovery--No such luck. Robin gritted her teeth as the mocking cry of the older girl rang across the short distance between them. "Show off," she muttered as the flames began to shoot up lighting the path as the other girl approached with a sinister glint in her eyes. The flames did nothing to help, of course. All they did was add an eerie glow to the path and light up the night sky. The other girl was a mere shadow outlined by the flames now, and Robin was in the spot-light of the flames glare. No place to run, no place to hide now-- as the girl moved closer, Robin cornered in the wall. Okay, forget scared-- try terrified. "Okay, I get it," Robin shouted over the roar of the flames. "I'm scared! Happy?! What do you want from me?!"
