Lily Keller I will rain down silver and gold for you. I will shatter the black night, and pour out a million stars. Turn away from the darkness, the madness, the pain. Open your eyes. And know that I am here. That I remember and hope. Open your eyes and look to the light. Lily was walking through one of the secret passageways with a candle lighting her way. She was exploring a new passageway that she had just discovered. Everything here was ornate and seemingly well-cared for, which was unusual, normally it should have been drafty and quite shabby. Eventually she came upon a room that had been previously off her radar.
Candles lined the room, and noticing a light switch panel, she flicked it on. Electric lights blazed on, and revealed the vaulted ceiling, she had to be underground, it was so high. Two antique chairs sat around a long coffee table. On the table sat an old, dusty book. Opening the book, she discovered it was the diary of a girl, dating back to the 1760s. Pre-Revolution artifacts, she thought, seeing a guitar just down the table. She read a few pages of the diary, and when she was turning one of the pages, a ring fell out. It was gold, and had sapphires and diamonds set into it. She gasped, it was beautiful, and inscribed on the inside of the ring was "To my Jocelyn, 1765."

**give me the wings to fly**
River flicks off her flashlight when she sees the lights flick on in the room Lily had found. She takes a few steps closer, trying to keep her footfalls as quiet as possible, and then steps into the room, recognizing Lily as soon as her form changes from silhouette to a girl.
She catches sight of the ring, glinting softly in the low light. It really is gorgeous, all sparkly and ornate. Like something someone saves up his whole life for. She wonders who Jocelyn was, and how the buyer of the ring knew the girl. Maybe she was a summer love, or the girl next door, or a girl the buyer bought before being shipped out to war. That would be so romantic… Lost love and broken promises…
“Lily?” she says softly, not wanting to disturb her, but not wanting to seem like a stalker watching her either. Having Lily turn around and find her randomly standing there would be more than a little creepy, if River was in Lily’s shoes.

And know that I am here. That I remember and hope. Open your eyes and look to the light. Lily jumped slightly when River spoke, turning, her eyes flashed, "Were you following me?!"
[/color] She hated to think river would sink so low, but Lily couldn't help it. River hadn't made her prescence known until after Lily had discovered the artifacts. Studying the girl, Lily noticed that River was eyeing the ring. Under no circumstances would Lily let River leave with any of this stuff. If she insisted that she come with Lily to the Founder with this stuff, she'd let her; but her Grandfather would lecture her about being more careful. "I'll be taking these to the Founder for him to look at, especially the diary. It's from the 1760s, when this land was a plantation." Lily picked up the diary. Inside the diary, the life of a girl her own age was recorded, perhaps even Jocelyn was gifted. She desperately wanted to read this diary, and talk over the entries with her Grandfather and eventually Kinkade. She'd spotted the words 'elemental', 'extremely powerful', 'dangerous', and 'to be avoided at all costs'. She was sure it contained extremely useful information.[/left][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

**follow the voices**
River hold up her hands beside her head, a universal sign of ‘please don’t kill me’, her eyes widening. “I wasn’t following you. I promise. I was just exploring, and then you were here. I’m sorry.” She’s not quite sure why she’s apologizing, being as she wasn’t stalking the older girl. She just happened to be in the same place at the same time-- and apparently the wrong place at the wrong time. She’s slightly hurt that Lily even thought of suspecting her of following.
“It’s a beautiful ring. The girl who got it must have been very lucky to have someone who loved her enough to buy her that.” Lily mentions the diary and River turns her gaze to the book, the yellowed pages and old-timey feel of it screaming intrigue to her. But Lily obviously didn’t want her looking at it, so she doesn’t ask.
