KINKADE it will get hard, yeah 'cause life's like a jump rope. up, down, up, down.
Kinkade was so excited! This was going to be fun! As he began driving- his driving as steadyfast and sure as he- he could hardly handle his own positive emotions. And, then, he looked at Lily. That calm look... No. Why couldn't she be happy? In an instant, the excitement vanished, replaced with a sort of thoughtfulness. Maybe he should let her drive? Maybe that would help? He just wished she would be happy! If she would just be happy, this would be easy.
They said in times of need, powers manifested. Now might not have been the most pressing time, but the things that were building up beyond his knowledge could very well be reason enough for the new ability. So, as Kinkade kept his eyes on the road, driving the way she told him, his ability worked almost unconsciously to influence Lily to be happy, despite his own emotion at the moment. Emotional manipulation. It fit the empath, though he didn't know it then.

Lily Keller little sparrow, don't fly away..
Lily felt giddy all of the sudden, like whenever she was flying as a sparrow. It wasn't her, she had been attempting to calm herself down, not excite herself. Looking over and Kinkade, a thought bubbled in her mind. What if she wasn't just and empath? Maybe he could actually change a person's emotions - at his own whim? For some people, that ability could be dangerous, but somehow, some way, and for some reason, Lily didn't think that Kins would do something like that. Henseemed to..innocent. Maybe that wasn't the right word, but that was all she could think of at the moment.
A laugh escaped her lips, catching her off guard. Why was she so happy all of a sudden? As they drove up the path, she thoughts became more focused. After having grown up around gifted students, she was rather attuned to the different powers. What Kinkade was exhibiting seemed to be emotion manipulation. "Kinkade..." She trailed off, not knowing where to start.

KINKADE it will get hard, yeah 'cause life's like a jump rope. up, down, up, down. Kinkade went from thinking he sure wished she was happy to realizing he didn't need to hope for it, it was reality. As she giggled, Kinkade smiled to himself. See, patience was a virtue, and she couldn't stay upset forever. When she said his name, he glanced at her curiously before his eyes went back to the road.
"Yeah, Lily?
[/color]"he acknowledged. He was a bit oblivious; he didn't expect anything, other than that being quiet was a bit boring. Nothing abnormal in his opinion. So he didn't let it stop him- he kept driving, and kept his eyes on the path ahead.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

”Kins..you just made me happy. As in manipulating my emotions.” Lily replied, a bit oddly. She didn’t really know how to react, she was so shocked. Of course, kids developed new powers all of the time, but never any more than four. It was fitting, his new power, Kinkade always knew how to make someone feel better. Goodness knows, he had been her shoulder to cry on all these years. ”I think you have a new power, Kinkade.”

KINKADE it will get hard, yeah 'cause life's like a jump rope. up, down, up, down. Now Kinkade was paying attention. Maybe she should have been driving. He came to a stop, not far from their destination to turn his full attention to her. Why would she say that? A new power? He'd heard of it; he'd grown up around the kids, and of course Shiloh kept him informed on the latest news whenever he asked, which typically involved a student trying to come to terms with a new ability. But he had a new ability? It was hard to imagine, especially since he hadn't intended for it. Lily wouldn't lie to him, though, he was sure. So... Kinkade couldn't find the words at first. But after several seconds of silence, he smiled.
"Well then... I'm sorry,
[/color]"he murmured softly, " I'll have to watch that.[/color]" And, he would. But it was moments like this that he was glad she wasn't the empath; he was scared of this new development. Scared of what it could mean, and scared because it seemed to work without his intention (at least that was his initial impression). This could be very bad. But he wasn't sure how to express himself. He knew his emotions well, just... not how to explain. It was so intimate, so self-explanatory that it was hard to convey.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
