RIVER TAM I’ve seen all of creation, but to it I’m incidental But there’s more to this automaton than they will ever know I’m more than just alloys and circuits, I have soul And I’ve got dreams just like everybody else I could conquer the world if I could conquer myself
If you had been through what I have, you wouldn’t love it either she almost says, but stops herself. Saying that would give her fear a name in his eyes, make it tangible. She consents herself to silent seething, left hand curling into a fist. Her short nails dig into her palm, bringing half-moons of blood to the surface.
A gust of wind blows her backward, almost knocking her off her feet. Her left foot moves backward, catching her weight, but it’s not enough. The air continues to pull at her dress, push her backward, inch by inch. There’s not enough traction on the sliding sand. She fights the wind with every bit of her will.

Ivan saw her beginning to get furious, he liked it but he felt bad about her, seeing fear and hate in her words "I've been through much too..." He walked more forward, to arms length and started to materialize in front of her, It would probably scare her or she would fight back. The slight dew from the sea struck his back, chilling his back as he stood there and chuckled. She was right on the edge, but he started to have second thoughts about what he was about to do. He thought hims plan over and decided to wait for nature to finish the job. As her back foot was nearly to the edge he waved a small good bye and grinned. His past flashed back as a comrade of his fell off a bridge right before Ivan could save him. His flashback was short, and right before hell broke loose. He felt the world slow down as the dew grew stronger and the wind grew more determined. Ivan fought his crossed mind. Let her fall, have a good laugh, or save her and have a good friendship. He choose his path as he lunged forward and held out his hand, He didn't know if he was too late or too early.
"Shittt!" he yelled as he held out his arm.

River looks backwards, toward the rushing water just a few feet below her. Her scream gets caught in her throat. Images from the Sussex Academy for Gifted Children flash through her head. She can’t fall, just can’t.
Ivan grins at her. Bastard. He doesn’t know, can’t know, what happened to her. He waves. Sick. She wants so badly to reach out and wipe the smug smile right off his face, but the water…
Her right foot slips, followed quickly by her left. No. This can’t be happening. Stupid River! Don’t come to the beach!
Her eyes squeeze shut as she prepares for the impending doom. She’s resigned to the fact-- her body will hit the water, and she will slide under. That will be the end of River. She wishes it didn’t have to be so, but there’s no way around it. The Mafia Man wants her dead, and there’s no running from the Russian Mafia.
She’s about to fall. She’s falling. She opens her eyes, for the weirdest reason. A hand swims into view before her. Ivan’s hand. Complete with his cry. Remorse in the word, maybe?
She struggles with herself. Take the hand of the man who just a second ago was tormenting her, or fall to the water below? Seems like a pretty basic decision, but it’s laced with possibilities. He could be helping her up just to push her back down. But there’s not really time to go through all the pros and cons of the situation. She’s falling. It’s now or never.
River reaches out and takes his hand.

Ivan sighs lightly as she grabs his arm, her tender grasp around his thick and experienced hands. He smiled as she hung a few feet from the water. He saw the fear in her eyes, She seriously couldn't swim? He thought to himself, but he didn't think twice, The wind stop blowing and Ivan gained ground. He then used his second hand to secure the bond and he began to pull her out of the sticky situation. He grunted as he got her over the edge, now for the apology now that he just rescued her from his own doing. "I'm... sorry," He put his arm on her shoulder lightly "I just," He looked down "I'm still new to this environment," He paused "Do you forgive me?" He lifted his arm and put it by his side and sighed. How stupid do you have to be to do that Ivan? he asked himself... He frowned and looked down, he felt against himself. His cross necklace gleamed in the slight sunlight as he thought his actions through...
Idiot, he though to himself, now your life is dependent if she forgives you or not... Maybe her power was so weak after all...

She sighs in relief as her feet touch the ground. Ivan’s arm skims her shoulders, and she stiffens at the touch. He is going to push her after all. But then… An apology? Nicest killer she’s ever met.
River skitters away from the edge. “Thank you. For not letting me fall.” Once she’s a good thirty feet from the drop, she answers his question.
“Yes. I forgive you." She shifts nervously from foot to foot. “And I wouldn’t have died or anything if I fell-- I know how to swim-- it’s just… I’ve had a few bad experiences with water.” One experience, really, just repeated over and over again. Forced drowning kinda messes with a person’s mind.

Ivan started to walk beside her towards the academy quite embarrassed at his act, he just got caught into the action that he couldn't stop until his past plagued him. He looked at her with a slight frown on his face mad at himself and his actions. "Don't mention it..." He whispered rather quietly as the cold air blew weakly but consistently, lowering his body heat. He started to shiver slightly. He felt his feet go completely numb from him soaking his feet in the water. He began to speed up his heart but not to the point where he would activate his power, that would be bad. He nodded to her accepted his apology, good... He didn't damage his reputation that badly. He smiled lightly at her. He heard her talk about her quirkiness with water... "Oh, now i really feel bad." He chuckled lightly to try and relieve the mood. He then noticed the sun beginning to hide into a cloud, not good... It'll get very cold, very soon, and he's covered almost completely in water... Man up weakling he told himself... Its just the cold, Its nothing new.
"You have a very interesting power..." He forced out into the silence, to try and lighten the mood.

”Interesting can be taken more than one way.” she says, looking over at Ivan out of the corner of her eye, just then noticing the wetness that soaks through his clothes. That’s bad. River frowns.
”You’re soaked. If you don’t get dry clothes soon, you’ll get hypothermia.” She finds herself oddly concerned for the wellbeing of the man who almost made her fall into the water-- probably because he saved her. It’s a new feeling for her-- all her childhood (which ended at age thirteen), she was the one being protected, the one who couldn’t handle herself on her own. Sure, she felt bad when something happened to someone in her family, but she never really did anything about it. They didn’t let her. When she was on her own, she didn’t have anyone to feel concerned for, save herself.

Ivan continued to walk with River towards the academy, getting quite cold. "Well the good type of interesting." He smiled to River, wanting to seek warmth. But he can make it back, he'll lose his thinking for some time, but he'll make it back. Ivan started to pump his heart faster, making him less visible, but alot warmer. Ivan sighed at the horrid winter weather. He continued to breathe faster and deeper to supply his accelerated heart.
He was surprised he never ran out of breathe or that his heart couldn't bear the double in beats per second to release that needed hormone for increased albinism, which he used for his ability. It has a duration and Ivan wants to change that, he wants to learn how to more easily activate and disable his power with without the headaches and heart burn that he's left with. He swallowed hard at his throat getting a bit drained of blood.
He then realized he forgot to reply "Its fine, ill make it back to my dorm in time."
OOC: Finished?

The good type of interesting. First compliment she’d received since coming to this school. (Since quite a while before that, but that’s another story.) She smiles back at him, a real smile, reaching all the way up to her eyes.
River glances over at her companion, slightly surprised to see the tiniest bit of tree through his head. Just the outline, but still. People are supposed to be opaque. She hadn’t realized (though she had known) that he could be half-invisible.
She nods at his reply. ”Whatever you say.”
((ooc: Sure.))
