Ivan walked down the lonely beach looking for something to do, He of course did not want to be seen so he walked with his invisibility, hoping no one will notice. But of course he left foot prints in the sand, not to far from the high tide wake of the sea. After a few minutes of walking he saw some pebbles he could skip, so he did exactly that. He looked around to find himself along and he started to throw some stones, watching them dance on the rough silk of the sea. He sighed, he really missed his home. He literally knew no English except for a few general words like "hello".
He barely understood his teachers, let alone the people around them, trying to understand this English with failed attempts. So he decided to lay low and just stay in the shadows, after all, he is good at that. He then frowned when he realized he was throwing random rocks into the sea. He sensed someone was there, which wasnt really a power, it was his wit from living in a country like Russia and being on the run from authority's. He just stopped and turned around. He blindly said "He-Hello?" Also in a scared tone, with his accent deeper that the sea itself.
he stood motionless, like almost a deer, and waiting for an answer. Word Count= 267 Tag=OPEN Music= New Divide/Linkin Park OOC= Its alil sloppy O.o

RIVER TAM I’ve seen all of creation, but to it I’m incidental But there’s more to this automaton than they will ever know I’m more than just alloys and circuits, I have soul And I’ve got dreams just like everybody else I could conquer the world if I could conquer myself
River steps softly, wondering what in the world possessed her to go to the beach. Maybe it was her reminiscing of times long past, when her father would taker her and her brother out to their lake house, and the three of them would just be away from it all for a while. It happened at least once every summer, and usually on River’s birthday as well. Once, they went in the heart of winter, and skated around on the ice for hours, then went inside and got hot cocoa with marshmallows. Those were the times.
She freezes as the sound of pebbles dropping steadily into water reaches her ears, then creeps forward slowly. Footsteps, leading right up to the edge of the water, then just… Stopping. The ripples emanate from a point a few feet out from the water’s edge, making a straight line, circles of wavelets overlapping, crashing into each other.
Her feet shuffle backward in the sand, her instincts telling her that she’s intruding on a private moment, and that she should go, and then the words float back to her. A scared, stuttering greeting, with a heavy Russian accent. That’s… Odd. She decides to try her luck, and respond.
“Hello. Are you invisible, or am I just hearing things?” For some reason, her omnilinguist brain had put the words out in Russian, maybe responding to the heavy accent she had heard just a moment before.

Ivan, half surprised and spooked at the answer, triangulates the voice and surely enough a young girl is standing there. He breaks his invisibility and smiles to her, and struggles for a reply "No, it is true". He then looks at her, studying her for a moment but not making it much noticeable. She seemed younger but not of Slavic decent of all, but he decided to ask in Russian, to test her, maybe she was taught it? "Do you speak Russian?" He finished with a shy sigh as he looked out towards the sea. He looked at the horizon for an answer, a hint or anything for him to help him. He idiotically rubbed his poorly kept chin and he thought to himself the urgency to shave it.
Ivan thought about disappearing into the breeze and running away, but that would be worse than to stay. After all, she was younger than him and he never saw her before, His father, the only thing useful Ivan was taught was the old codes of chivalry, One of them, not to run away from your own humiliation but to learn from it, It was more of an honor code now that he thought about it. He then turned, with his confidence built towards her and just stared shyly into her deep brown eyes getting lost in her gaze, He then decided to ask another question, "My name..." Thinking for a moment trying to find the right words "is Ivan... How about yours?"
He again struggled to finish with his accent struggling to adapt to his new language and he frowned at his own stupidity.

River swivels her head to look straight at him, taking a few tentative, dancing steps forward. Mostly sideways, though. A good twenty, thirty feet from the waves. Not going in the water, not going near the water, not now, not ever. Her boots make light footprints, mostly of the front part of her toes, in the slightly damp sand.
Pfft. Does she speak Russian. That’s like asking a dog if it barks. Or a cow if it moos. ”I speak many languages. Russian just happens to be one of them.” She considers, for a moment, continuing in French, or Italian, but decides to stay with Russian. It’s rare to find people fluent in languages other than English in America, so she has to take advantage of every moment of it. Besides-- unless this boy knew anything besides Russian and English, she would just confuse him. And that would not be good.
She smoothes her skirt down, flicking clinging pieces of sand off of the black fabric. Does it ever get cold in this state? If she can go out in December with just a cotton summer dress (sleeveless, might I add), how is she ever going to adjust to the summer? Most people in her position would spend a lot of time in the pool, but, well, River’s not exactly most people.
Ivan. That’s his name. And now he wants to know hers? Well. She could tell him, but what’s the fun in that? Riddles and red herrings are so much more exciting… “River.” Curses. No riddles now.

Ivan became quite interested into who he now knew as River. He remembered his history, his horrible horrible history with a younger girl, He didn't want to think about it again so he frowned slightly trying not to aim it at River. He wanted to know how she was so special other than being multilingual. He spoke in a shy tone "You've seen my ability, Whats yours" He said finishing with a slight cocking on the head. He wanted to know, he didnt know her, probably never would see her again. He decided to play some games with her, just to have some fun. He chuckled softly at her awkward approach towards him. He went into his mental zone, Heart pumping deeper and with two hundred fifty beats per second to release his specialty that seeps to is capillaries and makes him become perfectly invisibly. He smiled as he walked on land with untraceable footsteps, he then said aloud. "River, that's a unique name" He continued with his first tongue. He wanted to see what this one was made out of, so far few could let alone find him. He then walked a few paces from his last speaking spot and chuckled lightly as he came closer.
He smiled his Russian grin, the one grin some people saw last in their life. He didnt intend of killing anyone anymore. That was the cold past, he wants to start over, but he just wants to play around a bit to try and see if someone could at least hit him. He couldnt stop chuckling evilly as he watched and circled River, laughing at different levels of intensity to throw off the fact he was literally circling her. He enjoyed this kind of fun, and he whispered a small taunt
"Come and find me, girly"

”I know languages.” she says softly, purposely leaving out her other power. Better to save the more useful one for when-- if-- this gets dangerous. It’s her one defense against those who wish her harm. Throws them off-- how does she know that? No one knows that.
River freezes her muscles tightening to the breaking point, as Ivan disappears. Well. Didn’t take long for that to get interesting.
He breaks out laughing-- a mean harsh laugh-- and the sound travels in a rough circle around her. She forces herself to relax. This won’t work if she looks scared. Have to look cocky, arrogant. River opens herself to his past.
The images tumble into her head, making her squeeze her eyes shut for fear of being overwhelmed by two different realities. In less than a second, she knows more about Ivan Kamenkovich that she wants.
”Come and find me, girly.”
”Ivan Alexander Kamenkovich.” she says softly, staying perfectly still, eyes closed, a smile playing at the corner of her mouth. ”Shunned by the world at such a young age. Forever trying to fit in.” Here, she stops.
Sure, she could keep going, list off every birthday present Ivan got as a child, name every place he visited, count the number of times he sneezed, anything, but she doesn’t. Better to wait and see the reaction first. From what she’s seen, it might not be pretty. Or it could not throw him at all. For now, all she can do it wait and see.

Ivan smiled coldly as he stopped a few paces away from her. He waited for her to awake from her somewhat weird stance. River looked like she was forcing her stance, he chuckled lightly, not loud enough for her to hear. This reminded Ivan of a target he had once, A daughter of a corrupt police officer. She didn't even see it coming. He just stood there, waiting, letting the wind and waves cover his heavy breathing that maintained his form. Ivan raised his brow when she told him about his own history. "Interesting, you can see my past" He moved slightly, never trusting her. He still didn't know what she was made up. He wanted to see if she could crack under some pressure.
Ivan wanted to play with River a bit. He walked up behind her and grabbed her hair and flicked it your her right slightly, and whispered "I dont care about my past, It doesnt hurt me..." He then touched one of his cold hands onto one of her thighs for a few moments, then he withdrew and waited for a response.

River shudders, fighting the urge to flee. God, he is such a creep! Reminds her so much of the Doctors, in all the wrong ways (not that there are any good ways, but I digress). She steps backwards, hopefully away from Ivan, crossing her arms across her stomach. Gooseflesh appears on her upper arms, but not from the early December chill.
How can one not care about the past? It’s all we have-- it shapes us, defines us, makes us who we are. Without our memories, what are we? A collection of pixels in some cosmic game? Electrical impulses traveling through nerves?
” No one ever really liked you, did they? Not even your parents. They abandoned you, left you by the street. Your own mother didn’t want you. She looks straight ahead, chin raised defiantly. Not a hint of a tremor is evident in her voice as she sneers the words.

Ivan side-peddled to avoid an impact with River. He smiled at her resistance, he liked it, but he decided not to pursue, nonetheless he stopped this time to her left, but he had distance, He smiled at her ability to find out everything about him. He didn't care, he wanted to shrug it off, and she wasn't making it much better. "Hah, My parents aren't even worth mentioning, they could burn in hell for all i care" he stung to her. He wanted to seem like her powers were useless, but they actually could make him flee, but Ivan was stronger than that. He was more mature, he needs to calm down.
"And I was wanted... by the wrong people" he chuckled. Picking up a small rock he chucked it near River, maybe to scare her a bit, because she seemed a bit strong on the inside, e needed to weaken her somehow. Just how, He stared at the sea for an answer. Nothing came, but he moved a bit to her right, keeping his distance. Something sparked in his mind, water itself, it was calling him. He then walked slowly away from River, taunting her
"Come and find me."

She’s shocked at the next words that tumble out of his mouth. Not care about parents? Well, seeing what they did to him, she can see why. But still. Parents are parents, no matter how bad. She feels like a hypocrite the moment the thought flashes through her mind. She’s not too fond of her own parents, yet she knows that they tried to do everything right.
River laughs. “Oh, yes. I’d almost forgotten. The Russian Mafia. But they didn’t ever want you, Ivan. They needed you. For your power. To do their work for them.” It’s a feeble blow, but River’s running out of ammo. This only works for so long.
Find him? Uh, don’t think so. She’s staying right here, thank you very much. A good distance away from the water. If she’s right, that’s exactly where he’s heading. It’s like he knows her weakness. And there’s no way that she’s going to give him the satisfaction of seeing her freak.

Ivan chuckled as he was a considerable distance from her, He stepped into the water with his sneakers and smiled in his own fun. Smiling he walked back with his sneakers soaked. He came back just in time for her lovely comment. "How could a girl like you," He paused as he made sure the ware on his shoes seeped into the plants and ground around him, with his shoes making a diminishing plopping sound. "Forget such a big detail.." He paused and continued when he finished his circle. He then asked a question that might just render her power useless. "What if I wanted to be used, to be a pawn in the ever so complicated game of gang life?" He chuckled as he crossed his arms wanting to see what she could come up with, and he just kept smiling.
He then smiled as he looked at the now soggy ground around River, He was wondering why her name was River. He thought for a moment on his next move, this was just like a chess game, and it was a dead stalemate at this point, and he intended to change that.

Damn. All she knows is what happened, and he played the mighty ‘want’ card, as well as the ‘what if’. No weapons now. Nothing to protect herself. To protect herself from certain humiliation, she stays silent, glaring at where she guesses him to be, based solely on the sound of his voice.
Looking down for just a moment, River has to stifle a yelp. Her arms uncross, right hand flying to her mouth to keep her scream in. The ground… Soaked. Water. Everywhere. The blood drains from her face, leaving her pale as a sheet. No, no, no, nononono. Not happening, sooo not happening.
She pushes up onto the toes of her shoes, stepping tenderly out of the circle, away from the ocean, and hopefully away from Ivan. Her hands are shaking, her knees like jelly. She inwardly curses herself. Stupid, stupid, stupid River. Why would you come to the frigging beach?!

Ivan stood watching silently and chuckled quietly. He nearly up-roared when she yelped at the soggy ground. He just checked her. He smiled at her horror, Ivan gained confidence and walked close to her, He wanted to ask a question that burned now in his mind. "Why is your name River?" He walked slowly to her left. He was slowly going to lead her into a small cliff that led to a small river, Oh the irony. He felt like he was herding a sheep, He was quite glad River didn't think as far ahead as he did, He smiled at his coldness, as cold as the air around him. If he ever met River again he would give her some pointers on insight.
Quite weirdly she should have much of it, considering she could peek into his past, use it to manipulate him and turn him soft, but he was still used to the street, hes only been here a few days. He then brushed the tall grass around him, just to tease her about his location.

She doesn’t move, save to take a tiny step backward as his voice comes from directly in front of her-- with the weirdest question in the history of questions, no less. Why is her name River? Gee, who knows? Maybe her parents like the name River. Why does it even matter? It’s her name, and it’s who she is. River Tam. People grow to fit the identities placed on them from birth.
”Why is your name Ivan?” she counters, disgusted by the tremor so evident in her voice. Be strong, River. No point in living if you can’t be strong.
The girl’s head twists suddenly to her left as the sound of rustling grass reaches her ears. So he’s over there now. Definitely no way she’s going toward the grass. But, then again, he has the mind of a mafia man. He could have expected her not to come toward him, and wanted her to go backward. Well, she’s certainly not doing that either. Staying still can’t cause any damage, can it?

He cocked his head to the side and thought his moves over, he could literally force her backwards, or he could savor this fear, working her backwards. "Its just, you seem to be afraid of water, and ironically your name is after a body of water?" He finished as a question to throw her off. He detected the harshness in her voice, good, he liked fierce ones. "Im named after the cold ruler in my countries past, but you should have had that click, after all you are very knowledgeable."
Now he was mocking her, he smiled as a farely large gust of wind pushed her closer and closer to Ivan's objective, it was like nature wanted to see what would happen if it helped out. He had a plan to really mess things up. But he would given no clues or utter any more words, she was close. He began to chuckle sightly as the wind continued to blow, he moved in front of her and started to get closer.
All she had to do was to fall into his checkmate.
